About the Studio
West Haus Studio is a 1,300 sqft sunlit space made for creatives by creatives, tucked away on the third floor (stair access only) of a charming building in the heart of Downtown Kitchener.
With three thoughtfully designed rooms: Noir, Nook, and Cloud, all included with your booking, every inch of the studio is curated to spark imagination and support whatever you’re dreaming up. From soft textures to bold details, shifting light to evolving setups, West Haus is a space that moves with you, whether you’re capturing content, hosting an intimate event, or building something bigger than yourself.
It’s a place where you can show up exactly as you are and feel inspired to create freely, supported by a space that was designed to feel like yours.
Wide stair access makes loading in easy, and there’s lots of nearby parking to keep things simple. At West Haus, we believe creativity flourishes when you feel at home, we can’t wait to see what you bring to life here.
Meet Steph + Dan
For Steph and Dan, the streets of Kitchener-Waterloo aren't just a map; they’re the backdrop of their lives. Growing up in the heart of KW, they’ve watched the city evolve, but their roots remained firmly planted in the community that raised them.
After saying "I do" in 2023, the couple began dreaming of a way to give back to the city that shaped them (beyond volunteering with different organizations). They didn’t just want to open a business; they wanted to build a staple of DTK. A physical anchor where creativity and connection collide. That dream found its home when they received an email that West Haus Studio was for sale.
Steph brings the heartbeat to the studio. With an extensive background in event planning and hospitality and as the founder of New Berlin Events, she knows exactly how to turn a blank space into a feeling. She understands that a studio is more than four walls; it’s about the experience of the people inside them.
Dan provides the backbone. As a licensed electrician with a deep history in renovations, he views the world through the lens of potential. If Steph can dream it, Dan can build it. His expertise allows West Haus to feature custom, built-in installations that you won't find anywhere else.
Their goal? To create a community-oriented space where everyone is welcome.

We’re right in the heart of Downtown Kitchener, on King Street, just to the right of The Grand Trunk. Look for the 87 | 93 above the door to find us.
If your booking is on a weekend or after 5PM on a weekday, the front door will be locked. No stress, we’ll send you a custom access code ahead of time so you can get in.
Please note: we don’t accept walk-ins. All bookings must be made in advance.

West Haus is filled with dreamy natural light, thanks to our 12ft windows that flood the space during the day. It’s perfect for soft, even lighting, no ring light required. That said, if you're shooting in the evening or on an overcast day, you may want to bring additional lighting. Outlets are available throughout the space.

We don’t offer refunds, but we totally get that life happens. If you need to cancel, we may be able to issue studio credit depending on your notice:
24+ hours: Full credit
12+ hours: 50% credit
Less than 12 hours: No credit
Studio credit is valid for 12 months from your original booking date. No-shows are not eligible for credit.

We ask that large items like couches and rugs stay in place to protect our space and keep things looking great. Feel free to rearrange smaller props, stools, and chairs, just be sure to return everything to where you found it.
Installations are not to be moved under any circumstances. If they are moved or tampered with, a minimum $150 fee will be applied (and more if damage occurs).

Yes, please! We kindly ask all renters to leave the studio just as they found it. Here's how:
Sweep up any debris (broom located by the front door)
Return all furniture and props to their original places
Dispose of trash and coffee cups in the bins provided
Lock up when you leave
On wet or snowy days, remove outdoor footwear in the entryway
Failure to clean properly may result in a cleaning fee. If the space is messy when you arrive, please snap a photo and let us know so we can follow up and hold everyone accountable.

Yes! We love furry friends in the studio, just be sure to clean up after them to keep the space tidy for the next guest.

We don’t accept walk-ins, but if you need something last minute, let us know, we may be able to connect you with one of our trusted photographers (additional rates apply).

We don’t offer pre-booking walkthroughs for standard rentals, but we’ve got you covered with a virtual tour (see our about page).
If you’re planning an event, we’d be happy to schedule 1 walkthrough ahead of time, after booking. -
Our studio vibe evolves with the seasons and so do our installations. We always do our best to give you advance notice when there’s a set in the space.
If it doesn’t work for your booking, we’re happy to offer credit or reschedule your session (valid for 12 months from the original date), as long as the cancellation follows our studio’s cancellation policy. -
The studio is located on the top floor and is only accessible by two flights of stairs, there is unfortunately no elevator.
That said, our wide staircases make equipment and prop loading easy. -
No, your booking includes exclusive access to the studio, but not a photographer.

Yes, absolutely! For events and workshops, please reach out via email so we can review your request and make sure it’s a great fit. All events are subject to a cleaning fee and may require a security deposit.
Planning something bigger (like a wedding, shower, or reception)? We offer optional coordination services to make it all easier.
Want the installation removed for your event? That’s possible, we can provide a custom quote based on the set.
